About

Charles

Charles Sammut was born in Marsa, Malta in 1952 and studied at the Malta School of Art and the Malta School of Craftsmen. Between 1988 and 1993 he attended four courses at the Jaust-hus School of Art in Denmark and in 1990 he was a guest teacher at Trinity Regional College, Melbourne, Australia.
He gets his inspiration from natural objects such as seeds, stones or bones and uses wood, iron and stone as well as clay for his sculptures. He has several works on permanent public display in Malta and a permanent exhibition at his studio and garden. He lives at The Sculptor's Lodge, formerly a pottery, on the edge of Buskett Forest.
